What is a Hot Mix Plant? Powering India’s Road Revolution

India is currently undergoing one of the most aggressive infrastructure expansions in its history. From the massive corridors of the Bharatmala Pariyojana to the rural connectivity of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), the quality of our roads defines our progress. At the heart of this transformation is the Hot Mix Plant (HMP).

At Gajjar Equipments, we design Hot Mix Plants in Ahmedabad’s industrial hub to meet the rigorous demands of Indian road construction, ensuring durability against heavy monsoon rains and extreme summer temperatures.

What Exactly is a Hot Mix Plant?

A Hot Mix Plant produces Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) as a specialized facility.
It blends aggregates (crushed stone, sand, and gravel) with bitumen (the black binding agent) at precisely controlled high temperatures.

The result is a smooth, black paving material that is flexible yet strong enough to support everything from heavy-duty trucks to city commuters.

How it Works: The Indian Perspective

MoRTH governs road quality in India, and we design plants ensuring strict 5-step batch compliance every batch meets.

Cold Aggregate Feeding

We store various stone sizes in Cold Feed Bins and use precision feeders to maintain exact sand-to-stone ratio.

Drying & Heating

The materials enter a rotating dryer drum. A high-efficiency burner—capable of running on Diesel, LDO, or Furnace Oil—heats the aggregates to roughly 160°C, removing all moisture. This is critical for preventing potholes during the monsoon season.

The Mixing Zone

We add bitumen directly into the drum in a Drum Mix Plant, which is commonly used for rural and city roads.

In a Batch Mix Plant, which is required for many NHAI highway projects, we weigh aggregates first and then mix them in a separate pugmill.

Bitumen Management

We store liquid bitumen in insulated tanks and maintain it at the correct temperature and viscosity to ensure uniform coating.

Pollution Control

We equip plants with Wet Scrubbers or Bag House Filters to capture dust and reduce environmental impact as India moves toward “Green Highways.”

Why Indian Contractors Trust Gajjar Hot Mix Plants

MORTH Compliance

Whether building a 4-lane national highway or a rural road, the plants deliver asphalt mix that meets strict quality standards and passes required tests.

Fuel Flexibility

Multi-fuel burners allow contractors to switch between fuels based on availability and cost, helping reduce operational expenses.

Rugged Reliability

Built with heavy-duty steel in Ahmedabad, these plants are designed for continuous, high-intensity highway paving operations.

Ease of Mobility

Mobile and portable models can be shifted between project sites with minimal downtime, making them suitable for long corridor projects like national expressways.

Building the Roads of Tomorrow

A Hot Mix Plant is more than just a machine; it is an investment in India’s connectivity. Whether for municipal road repairs or large-scale expressway projects, Gajjar Equipments provides technology designed to keep asphalt production efficient, reliable, and consistent.
