Working Principle of Asphalt Drum Mix Plant
1. Weighing & Feeding of Aggregates
- Aggregates such as sand, gravel, and crushed stone are individually weighed from cold feed bins.
- Variable speed belts and automatic controls ensure precise proportioning as per mix design.
- Weighed materials are transferred to the dryer via a charging conveyor.
2. Drying & Heating Process
- Inside the dryer drum, aggregates are first dried using heat from the burner.
- Heated aggregates move to the mixing zone, where bitumen is added for blending.
- Efficient heat transfer ensures uniform temperature and quality of the asphalt mix.
3. Continuous Mixing Operation
- Internal flights (paddles) in the drum lift and cascade aggregates through the hot air stream.
